Surrounding Countryside
Drive out of Newquay and you are in rolling Cornish countryside very quickly. There is much to do and explore in this beautiful part of the country, all within easy travelling distance.
Amateur horticulturalists will not only enjoy the Eden Project, but also the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Trewithan with its banana plantation and bamboo forest. Family days out include Flambards, Crealy, the Lappa Valley Steam Railway and the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, all within an easy drive of Newquay.
Cornwall’s reputation for food and drink continues to grow with a mix of organic farms, vineyards and local breweries, as well as the influence of Rick Stein in Padstow and Jamie Oliver in Watergate Bay.
Explorers using Newquay as a base have easy access to a wide range of towns to explore from St. Ives with the Tate Gallery and Padstow on the North Coast to the county capital of Truro and picturesque fishing harbours on the south coast such as Mevagissey and Fowey.
